Cape Chamber honours 3 South African women entrepreneurs

Nov. 21, 2011 (NEW YORK)– The Cape Chamber once again participated in the annual International Women Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) by attending and honouring 3 South African business entrepreneurs who were among 19 of the world’s most promising women recognized at the fifth annual International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) awards conference held in New York in November.

The Cape Chamber represented by Executive Director, Viola Manual and Anni Bodington, herself a past awardee, entrepreneur, Chamber Councilor and Managing Director of TESA Palisade Fencing and Security Systems, both representing South Africa on the International IWEC Steering Committee, headed a delegation funded by the Department of Trade and Industry Gender Unit, of awardees, past awardees, women entrepreneurs and mentees to the conference and awards ceremony..

South Africa was proudly represented by entrepreneur awardees Susan Huxter, CEO of award winning Le Quartier Francais, a well-known hospitality and restaurateur,  Valerie Mentz, CEO of Greystone Trading and owner of a number of vet shops and high end pet boutiques in the retail industry and Barbara van den Bossche, CEO of Vintage Distributors, a producer/farmer and exporter of fruit with a strong international customer base.

South Africa and Cape Town hosted the event in 2010 and the Chamber continues to be involved in the responsibility of plat forming female entrepreneurs and start up business by supporting initiatives such as IWEC.
