Crystal Towers Sparkles from the Inside Out...

My friend Meg is an interior designer and I know she would be blown away by the clever use of design and decor elements that fill the space in the Crystal Towers Hotel and Spa. ‘Intriguing’ and ‘Attractive’ are the two keywords I would throw around when describing some of the magnificent work that has been done to create a vibrant (yet at the same time), relaxed and comfortable environment.
It’s difficult to know where to start when recounting an experience of walking through the front doors of this two year old establishment. To say that I got the feeling that I was walking into another world, is not far from the truth. After the friendly and helpful doorman pointed me in the right direction and immediately made me feel at ease, I became overwhelmed by the striking items of decor that unwittingly seduced my eyes; large gleaming LED lights hanging elongated from high above in the double volume lobby area, artwork that melts naturally into the refined space and abstractly shaped pieces of furniture encouraging me stop, sit down and just, well, look...
An open-plan structure is present across the ground floor, where each section flows seamlessly into the next with invisible boundaries (such as the use of a sofa or a different type of flooring), to distinguish and separate each. One could be listlessly relaxing in the deli section having a cappuccino... and then quickly step into one of the lounges for a meeting or a game of pool in the ‘pool room’.
A large section of the ground floor is dedicated to the very swanky double-volume Ruby Bar, which stocks an impressive list of cocktails, champagne’s and single malt whiskeys. The mood here is created through very soft lighting and the configuration of low tables in small, intimate clusters- giving the bar a sophisticated, sultry atmosphere reminiscent of what one would see in the movies.
It shouldn’t sound surprising that the interior of the hotel very much matches the exterior, with an ongoing theme of soft, clean lines- think lots of squares, rectangles and geometric shapes. These remind me of a Jenga tower; solid slabs that appear to fit into empty spaces-resembling a sort of "puzzle". One can literally spend hours exploring and admiring the interior of the place. African Pride can be proud of this gem in their crown!
