New GM for Madikwe River Lodge

As the new general manager for Madikwe River Lodge, Patrick Modikwane brings 26 years of hospitality industry experience to the table.

Starting off as a runner at one of South Africa’s biggest hotel chains, Patrick quickly moved through the ranks fulfilling managerial positions at a number of South Africa’s top hotel restaurants. He also spent some time as a project manager for Mogale Solution Providers where he ran nine expanded public works programmes for training and development in the hospitality and tourism industries.

Patrick Modikwane has a diploma in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management in Austria and a certificate in Business Management from UNISA. He is a shining example of how hard work bears fruit for those who are dedicated to working in the industry.

Madikwe River Lodge, positioned on the banks of Groot Marico River within the diverse Madikwe Game Reserve, provides its guests with not only complete luxury but also unmatched wildlife experiences. For those who like to view nature from the comfort of a four-star lodge, this is the holiday destination for them!

And Madikwe is certainly luxurious. Surrounding the main lodge, all sixteen split-level thatched chalets with en-suite bathrooms are private comfortable havens, each individually decorated for a rich African feel.

The main lodge with separate lounge and private wooden decks looking through the riverine bush and river spells sheer lavishness. This is the perfect place to relax, unwind and take in the beautiful sights that Africa’s wilderness offers.

The kitchen provides guests with mouth-watering delights. The menu includes not only delicious food, but also interesting dining venues. Guests can partake in bush breakfasts down at the river, candlelit dinners in the lodge or bush dinners around a roaring fire on the open plains.  A boma located on a central island, accessed by a wooden bridge leading over the Groot Marico River, also offers a superb dining option.

Madikwe River Lodge offers far more than luxury. The activities available to guests include bush walks, star gazing, bird tours, fauna and flora, and exhilarating night drives.

Guests can also take part in 4 x4 safari experiences through the reserve, home to 66 large mammal species and 350 bird species. Viewing wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo, elephant and bush babies has never been easier – with the help of Madikwe’s passionate and knowledgeable rangers.

Madikwe's convenient location - only three and a half hours from Gauteng and a mere 45min by aircraft - has ensured its popularity. A stunning Lodge with excellent facilities and spectacular bush surroundings ensures every guest has a memorable experience.
