StreetSmart Restaurants Shine in New 2012 Rossouw's Restaurants Guide

The 9^th edition of the acclaimed Rossouw's Restaurants guide has just been released – the only guide in South Africa that grades establishments by category, awarding one, two and three stars. All restaurants are visited anonymously to ensure complete independence in the views expressed – making this a truly valuable companion to all food lovers. 

Since 2006, StreetSmart participating restaurants have been listed in Rossouw's Restaurants and in the new 2012 guide, a number of them have done exceptionally well and have achieved the highest accolade of Three Stars. These are: Aubergine, Bizerca Bistro, The Common Room, Jordan with George Jardine, Rust en Vrede and The Tasting Room. Many other participating restaurants achieved two and one stars – a complete list can be found on the website www.rossouwsrestaurants.com where diners can also submit their own reviews.

StreetSmart raises funds for street children projects in participating restaurants through a simple and voluntary R5 that is added to the table's bill and has been in operation since June 2005. All the funds raised in restaurants go to selected and approved organisations that run programmes for the normalisation of street and vulnerable children.

StreetSmart's goal is to be part of the process of social normalisation and to concientise the public not to give money into the hands of a child as this keeps them on the streets. In essence, eating and donating at a StreetSmart restaurant is the responsible way to help a street child.
